Use Android TV Launcher on ALL Amazon Devices (Old & New)

Software Needed

**(IF you have the new 2nd Generation Fire TV Cube the click here)**

  1. TDUK-FireTV-Settings 1.4 (All Devices Need This)
  2. TDUK-FireTV-Helper (All Devices running FireOS 6.x and 7.x)
  3. TDUK-FireTV-Toolbox (For old devices running FireOS 5.x. Install this on your Phone/Tablet)
  4. Leanback Launcher 1.9 (Fantastic Custom Launcher based on Android TV)
  5. Wolf Launcher (Another great launcher based on ATV Launcher, if you don’t want to use Leanback then try this one)
  6. Wallpaper (custom background) I have already named this file background.jpg so all you need to do is copy it to the root folder.
  7. X-Plore (A great file manager and also needed if you want to rename you downloaded files

Steps For Old FireOS 5.x Devices (2nd Gen Firestick / 2nd Gen FireTV etc)

Ensure you have enabled ADB on your device

Install the Fire TV helper 1.4, Leanback launcher and X-plore on your device

Go to settings — My firetv — About — Network to find your current IP Address

We can see my IP Address is 192.168.0.125

On your Android Phone / Tablet install the TDUK-FireTV-Toolbox and open it

You will see this screen

Enter in the IP address of your Device and click connect

You will see this prompt on your device

Select “Always allow” and click OK. If you don’t see the prompt then restart your Firetv / Stick

You will then see the app is connected

All you need to do now is click on “Setup FireTV Settings”. This will send the ADB commands to your device and start FireTV settings for you




After a few seconds you will see

As long as the Accessibility service is started and the Secure permissions are granted then you are good to go.

You can new select a launcher. In my example, I am using Leanback Launcher

Click on Save

Press the home key




You will now see the Android TV launcher.

If you want to change the background, open up the launcher settings

Click on Default wallpaper

Ensure you have copied a file called background.jpg in to the root of your internal storage (Use X-plore file manager if you need to do this)

Click on Choose Wallpaper

Click on Select background.jpg

You will then back taken back to this screen

Press the home key and you will see your new bacground.

How to go back to default launcher




Go to your apps library and find the FireTV settings in the list

Press the context key and select App Settings

Select Uninstall

You will still see the custom launcher until you press the home key
