3. Virus Total Mobile
VirusTotal Mobile is an app with the endorsement of the developers from the popular online malware analysis service that deploys some 50 different antivirus programs to analyze websites as well as files stored on your device.
The great advantage of this app is that all the elements to be inspected pass through a selection of dozens of antivirus programs specialized in threats like worms, trojans, adware, etc., so that any problem gets detected instantly. The question of what to do with the suspicious files comes down to you. When you first open the app it does a scan automatically, so you can view the problematic elements at a glance.
The dangerous items appear in red, while the ones that are free of problems are green. Items for which there is no information are grey. In this case you can send them to be analyzed, and within seconds you’ll have a full list of all the antivirus programs used in the scan and any alerts that have come up. The more apps you send to scan, the better your results in future analyses.
Should you need to scan not an installed app but a specific webpage, just enter the URL to the page in the button superimposed on the bottom on the screen when you scroll. (You can analyse local files of any kind from there as well.) If you get a green light from the 50 antivirus programs you can feel safe about accessing the site. VirusTotal is, in short, one of the best options to keep your device free of infections. No problematic element gets missed with this tool, which ensures you’ve got the maximum possible security when carrying out any activity with your device.
FileChef is an application that makes it really easy to download almost anything you want without needing a torrent client. It doesn’t list links for direct downloads, either. The only thing that FileChef does is open a tab in Google on your preferred browser with very specific search parameters. These search parameters are generated by FileChef and will help you quickly access third party download directories in which you’ll typically find what you’re looking for.
The FileChef interface is very simple. There is a text box in which you can type whatever you want to download and a series of categories that you can check to help focus your search (movies, software, images, music, etc.). When you click the search button, the app will redirect you to your browser. And from there, on your own browser, you can download whatever you want.
FileChef is a great application if you can’t use a torrent client for whatever reason, since you can use it to download just about anything you can think of.
